Founded in Lilienthal
An idea became a club: focused on women’s football – with ambition and vision from day one.
As Germany’s first American football club dedicated exclusively to women’s football, our goal is crystal clear: to become THE leading force for women’s football in the North .
From the first idea in Lilienthal to a new era in Bremen – with one clear focus: making women’s football visible, growing it, and setting new athletic standards.
In 2021, former and active football officials from other clubs met in Lilienthal to focus on women’s football. The decision to found a football club exclusively for women became firm – and the plan turned into reality. Lilienthal Venom was born.
In 2022, we entered the 2nd Bundesliga as newcomers. With around 500 spectators at our home games, we broke every regional record.
In 2023, we celebrated the first wins in our club history and secured a strong 3rd place in the DBL2 North.
2024 was a year of success and change. We beat the reigning DBL2 North champion twice, secured the runner-up title, and qualified for the playoffs for the first time. There, we delivered an impressive performance and exited with heads held high after an intense quarterfinal.
After the season, a key decision followed: to support our growth and the future of women’s football, we moved to the Hanseatic city of Bremen. This change marked a new era: Lilienthal Venom became Bremen Venom. Our mission remains clear: to make women’s football big in the North and set new standards.
2025 became another pivotal year. With new, forward-looking decisions, we set the course early for the next major step. At the end of the year, we announced a major milestone: with Head Coach Christian Buchholz by our side, we took the next big leap. Promotion to the GFL Women—the highest national level in women’s football—became reality, underlining our ambition to establish ourselves at the top of German women’s football for the long term.
The most important steps – short and clear.
An idea became a club: focused on women’s football – with ambition and vision from day one.
A strong start with great momentum – home games with around 500 spectators.
The first wins in club history – and a solid 3rd place in the DBL2 North.
Two wins against the reigning champion, the runner-up title, and a first-ever playoff appearance.
The next step for growth: Lilienthal Venom becomes Bremen Venom.
With Head Coach Christian Buchholz and promotion to the GFL Women, the next chapter begins.
We want to make women’s football big in the North, connect elite sport and community, and create an environment where players can grow long-term – athletically, personally, and as a team.
